Thesis:
The training and development strategies of the
corporation focuses on the effective management
and building customer relations, as well as providing
high quality products, and maintaining cleanliness
of the restaurant.
Introduction:
Kentucky Fried Chicken Corporation (KFC) is one
of the world’s largest chains of chicken
restaurants and covers a large percentage of the
U.S market in terms of sales. It is a chain of
restaurants having its branches all over the world.
As it is the world’s most recognizable brand,
its international strategy was to grow more and
more branches in the world through its greater
quality product, customer service and cleanliness
of the restaurants . Therefore, to maintain the
objective and to compete the challenges of the
upcoming and existing new fast food franchise
in the world, the corporation has always focused
to give a strong training to their employees specifically
to those related to the customer relation department.
Strategies for development and training:
In the beginning the strategies were not very
effective as the corporation could not make much
market but having some bitter experiences of the
past the corporation made some changes in its
management for a successive program and remodel
the existing restaurants during the 70”s
and now the emphasis was to eliminate the marginal
products and focused more on cleanliness of the
restaurant . Since then the development strategy
is more focused and gives more career opportunities
for people related to business schools, management
and other professional areas of study.
The principle development and training strategies
are as following:
1) Urge the employees to get closer to the customer
by adopting a very friendly behavior to them to
make decisions from market back. So the first
principle is to create the customer focus goal.
2) The firm also keeps in touch with the latest
trends and changing technological innovations
for its market and to keep a continuous change
as a way of life. Adding new ideas and taste in
its meals, making more deals for attracting the
customers and many other small policies are adopted
for this purpose.
3) Market orientation was another area of priority
by the management team to generate extra effectiveness
in the global market. A friendly atmosphere with
the customers is very important to give them confidence
for putting their suggestions in the suggestion
box for getting an idea of the likes and dislikes
of their valuable customers.
4) The management team communicates very effectively
and learns how to create an innovative atmosphere
and a better understanding with the various cultures
of the globe. As people belonging in different
areas and cultures have different taste. So the
main principle here is not to create a strong
uniform brand image but also to serve the best
interest of different customers in different locations
.
5) Making a market plan and providing effective
training to the employees is also an important
strategy for the development of the corporation
in overseas locations. While training and educating
the employees, human resource planning, reward
system and cultural definitions were given for
international operations to the management team,
which further hired and trained new staff from
the local countries where the new branch is to
establish. This also improves international political
economic relations as opening new markets in outside
country and ensuring new jobs facilities for the
nationals of that country played a very important
role in building customer relations and getting
into the cultural taste of the natives.
Effectiveness of these strategies:
The business environment in each country of the
globe is almost same. However the adaptation of
new products in foreign markets is a challenge
and risky deal. The strategy for training the
employees according to the cultural trends where
a new branch is decided to be introduced as well
as focusing on building friendly customer relations
in the foreign country is a very effective tool
to make the foreign national feel comfortable
in easy to get into the new taste and communicate
for the success of the corporation. KFC offers
various products to its customers which has much
more then the original recipe, like making the
same extra crispy or a little addition of chilly,
the twister, chicken sandwiches, mashed potatoes
and gravy, Chunky Chicken Pot Pies, deserts and
much more. All these are the innovations made
keeping in mind the various foreign cultures to
add more taste and more value to the chicken meals
.
At times people openly welcome a change in taste
and this lead to good market in that area. It
also provides a big market for the working class,
as the rate of employment is not yet good in the
developing countries. Hiring educated and well-versed
staff and providing good salaries make encourage
the working class to come closer to these franchises
and the local get more attracted to the food this
way. The introduction of new deals and packages
to the kids is also an encouraging source for
the corporations. Therefore, now it has become
a fashion to enjoy fast foods in the foreign countries
as at the same time it provides a lovely deal
for the whole family where kids and elders enjoy
equally the innovative taste of chicken. Altogether
the strategies ensures the effectiveness of the
strategies adopt by the corporation as well as
opening more career opportunities in foreign countries
by enhancing the same training and development
strategies. I don’t see any suggestion or
changes are to be made in the present training
and development strategies nevertheless the existing
are to be maintained.
