The book talks
about St. Philip of the joyous heart who was the
founder of a religious congregation, the oratory.
He was a trusted friend of outcasts and beggars.
His life towards men was like Jesus Christ by
portraying a mighty example of selfless love.
St. Philip grew up in the city of Florence in
a very poor family. His father who was a prosperous
merchant later took care of him. In his search
to find the best way to serve God, he left his
career as a merchant and became a lay apostle
in Rome. For many years he instructed the youth,
preached as well as doing duties of a layman.
He entered the seminary and as he thought it would
be best to serve his fellow priest. His zeal,
joy and holiness when he was a priest helped thousands
of people to live the true gospel life.
This book is meant for people within the age
bracket of 9-15 years. It tells the story of God’s
most lovable and loving saints. Despite his wisdom
and education was simple and glowing, soul was
still full of youth even in his honorable old
age. He would tease, make jokes, play with pets,
to amuse and teach the great lesson that it is
the joyous lesion that helps us win friends to
Christ.
