In the world today, there are several types of people living. They each reside in cultures in which they have been molded, and this means that their thoughts and actions are those that are governed by the very culture within which they have grown. This is naturally understood because of the fact that human beings tend to believe that whatever they are taught during their growing phases is correct and should not be opposed by norms of other cultures.

Precisely, this is one of the major causes of conflict in contemporary times, which is not to say tat this has not occurred in the past as well. In the past too, disagreements of this nature were known. However, living in contemporary times, these kinds of attitudes need to be over come in order to establish peaceful living. This is something that I have personally strived for; I came to America to live a life that would be in tandem with this approach. I wanted to live in a more diverse society, and thankfully, due to my professional aspirations, I have been given this opportunity.

Coming to America for me is a great experience; I have been given the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people. I have been accepted among these people as well, and I do not feel and loss in Washington. Though I have a name that is purely Eastern, and more precisely, Turkish, people here have not given me any reason to feel like an alien. Hearing the name ‘Huseng Vefali’ alarms no one, and they respect me more if anything else. By this name, they do of course realize that I am from another culture, but the fact that they accept is what thrills me

It is true of course that I would miss my family while I am away, but I must also assert that this is part of the life experience I have stepped to experience. I have taken a decision, and will stick by it because I believe that it is the correct one that I have taken. The reason why I believe it is the correct one is because this is truly the land of opportunity; here we are free to exercise our talents. Particularly, in becoming a doctor, I wanted to travel from Turkey to this wonderful land where I could get the best medical education. I don’t think I would have had the opportunity at any point back home. The opportunities are not as much as they are here.

My family has also worked hard to afford this education for me. The hard means through which they have provided for me back home are still in my min, especially the time just before I left Turkey. I remember every detail, and it is all fresh in my mind, and perhaps always will be. Though I have come to America for a good education and have seen the wonders of this place, I will never forget what it has all been like back in Turkey; I have realized the value of people who are close to me, and I also realize the value of people around me here in America, and I am grateful for all the support that everyone has given me in Turkey as well as in America.

Having mentioned my part, I must also say that my family as well has come to realize the manner in which America has provided me with opportunity that I perhaps would not have gotten in Turkey. Here, there is immense scope for me educationally as well as professionally, should any professor or any superior fancy my skills. Just knowing this is a relief because I am confident of myself and my skills as well. However, I do certainly have a long way to go; I have a lot to do as far as my studies are concerned, and I know that I can give my studies the attention that they require. Precisely, this is what my family has sent me here for, and with all the paper around in this lovely country ( America) I hope to fulfill my wishes. In my personal view, I feel that all those around me here in America, as well as those back home would want the best for me educationally and professionally. Finally, I must say that I do not want to let them down, and will put all my energy in making the most of what America has offered me.
