Environment plays the most important role in
shaping the personality and psychological development
of an adolescent to its youth that later on becomes
his strength or weakness when gets into professional
and practical life. However, environment includes
the social culture of the society where a kid
is brought up along the family background and
the most important element is the schooling. Basically
academic institution is a place where a kid spends
half of his day learning manners and earning education.
So, the basis should be strong. As far as adding
discipline and moral ethics to a personality since
childhood, it is really important to wear uniform
at the elementary level. Therefore, many schools
have started adopting the private schools uniform
policy to deal with the disruptive behavior pattern
and develop discipline and direct a sense of educational
behavior.
School Uniform should be mandatory at elementary
level in academic institutions
Only a few of the public schools and mostly the
private schools not only in America but also in
many countries of the globe do implement a policy
to wear uniforms in the school. Consequently,
this in future results to maintain a high level
of discipline in the person’s personality
as well as in the academic institution. At the
same time parents do not give much time to discipline
their children so the burden comes on the teacher.
So it becomes a difficult challenge to coup when
it comes to deal with a class of around 20-30
students and make them maintain discipline. Therefore,
it should be required to make school uniform necessary
so discipline can be maintain automatically and
the efforts and energy of the teacher can best
be served in providing a healthy atmosphere and
good education to the students.
Moreover, when these students grow up and get
into professional institutions as well as adopt
a profession later, they do not feel comfortable
to wear uniforms. So if they start wearing a uniform
since the elementary level, they will be use to
it.
Another important reason that makes it important
to wear uniform at the elementary academic institutions
is bridging the gap between different races and
classes of the society. According to a survey
conducted at a catholic school, it comes to our
understanding that school uniform develops a sense
of pride in the school. It also proves to be a
great equalizer as it vanishes division between
rich and poor classes of the society. Therefore,
a school uniform does not allow initiating a competition
regarding fashion, style and trendy cloths, as
the poor students cannot frequently switch on
new and stylish cloths
A uniform not only teaches discipline but also
gives a sense of unity, nationalism, a feeling
to belong to one nation. This later helps avoiding
the various social and political conflicts based
on ethnicity that leads to serious revolutionary
and terrorist movements. Therefore, research shows
that with the implementation of school uniform
policy, a massive decline in fighting and violence
with in the schools is earned. For instance, according
to the crime statistics taken for 4 years after
implementing school uniforms in the California
state school, the ratio in decrease of crimes
and fighting in elementary to middle level was
noticed to be 76% and 51% while sex crimes were
reduced to 93% similarly other offences were decreased
to a noticable percentage
