African culture
has long been apart of the US. This is proven
by the fact that a lot of Americans are nowadays
adopting the style and the slang that was more
common to the African American people. When we
walk down the street on any given day we find
that the African culture is very hard to go unnoticed.
This fact is not only known locally but the African
American culture is also known other countries
other than the US. The fashions, the way of eating,
Language, behavior dance and also in the field
of sports is very, very prominent. Music seems
to be one field that the blacks have taken over
very much and the influence of rap and choral
chants are hard to be missed. These songs are
either played as background music or the music
is part of the film, a very common scene is one
in which a church choir is portrayed. Some of
the famous black musicians are Michael Jackson,
Janet Jackson, Jareule, Will Smith & Whitney
Houston. There music has been prominent in the
life & soul of the almost all Americans. Tupac
Shakur is one such musician who composed the song
“Me against the World” part of the
song is reproduced below
Me Against the World “Can
you picture my prophecy? stress in tha city tha
cops is hot for me tha projects is full of bullets
tha bodies is droppin' there ain't no stoppin me
constantly movin while maken millions witnessin'
killins leavin dead bodies in abandoned buildings”
(Tupacnet, 2001) This song talks about how the people
mistreated the blacks. How the people perceive them.
The African American people were always mistreated
and were forbidden from entering certain places
and schools.
